Keeping in view the convenience of the people, the Ministry of External Affairs has made the process of issuing passports very easy, taking a big initiative. Let us inform that now any person can apply for passport registration and passport at his nearest post office. For this, applicants can apply by visiting the Common Service Center or CSC counter of their nearest post office.
According to India Post, a total of 424 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras have been established across the country. People can avail the facility of application and registration process for passport at the nearest post office.
For the facility, the applicant has to go to the Common Service Center of the nearest post office. Under the new system, after submitting the online application, it is mandatory for all the applicants to be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra along with the print receipt of the application and the original documents.
Before starting the process of applying for passport, the applicant must keep important documents with him. You will need these documents while applying for a passport.
List of documents required for passport application-
- Identity proof such as Aadhar card, voter card, or valid photo ID
- proof of age, birth certificate, school leaving certificate
- Driving License, Pan Card, Aadhar Card
- Address proof like electricity bill, water bill, gas connection, mobile bill
- Photo passbook of bank account, rent agreement
How to apply for passport in post office
- Visit the official website of Passport Seva passportindia.gov.in. You have to first fill and submit the passport application form online.
- After online submission of application you can visit nearest post office with original documents and application print receipt of Passport Seva Kendra.
- Passports will be issued within 7 to 14 working days after successful confirmation by the authorities. But, keep in mind that it is mandatory to visit the Passport Seva Kendra or the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra to submit your passport application.
