From August, not only will the working of Ticket Checking Staff (TTE) become easier, but the difficulties faced by the passengers regarding payment of fare and fine etc. during the journey will also end. TTE will start running with Point of Sales (POS) machines. All payments will be done through MTM card only.

The training program has started in Gorakhpur under the guidance of experts from State Bank of India (SBI) and Railway Administration, which will run till July 29. Actually, the railway administration has taken another important step towards digitizing the system. Under the leadership of Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM) SC Prasad, an agreement has been signed with SBI for the POS. POS will be operated under the supervision of SBI. A POS will be allotted to each TTE. Whatever payment will be done through POS, Will be directly transferred to SBI’s Railway Account. TTE will get rid of collecting money on the way and depositing it at the counter. The day-to-day quirks regarding retail will also end. Initially, TTEs will also carry Extra Fare Ticket (EFT) along with POS. Passengers who do not have an ATM card will be paid through EFT. But in the coming days, the system of EFT will also end.

On-going preparations to provide hand held terminal also

A plan is also underway to provide a Hand Held Terminal (HHT) to the ticket checking staff. Based on the Global Positioning System (GPS), the terminal will be directly connected to the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS). Train chart will be loaded in HHT. TTE will also be able to do berth allotment along with booking of tickets. There will also be an online system for deducting fines. TTE will check the ticket without touching it. Apart from HHT, a separate mobile app is also being prepared for ticket checking. Who will check the ticket through the bar code mentioned on the ticket. This will also curb counterfeiting of tickets. Northeast Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh says that the system should be intensified, Railway is constantly striving to make it easy and effective. The process of giving POS machines to the ticket checking staff is going on. 896 POS machines will be given by SBI.
