PayPal, one of the world’s largest payment apps, has decided to discontinue its local operation in India.
New Delhi. American online company PayPal Holdings Inc has decided to discontinue domestic payment service in India from 1 April. The company gave this information on Friday. PayPal, a San Jose-based company in California, will now focus on the cross border payment business. This means that global customers will still be able to make payments to Indian merchants using the service.
“From 1 April 2021, we will focus all our attention on enabling greater international sales for Indian businesses and focus away from our domestic products in India,” the company said in a statement. This means that we will not offer domestic payment services in India from April 1st. ”
Currently PayPal is a payment option on several Indian online apps such as travel and ticket service MakeMyTrip, online movie booking app BookMyShow and food delivery app Swiggy.
