New Delhi. Recently, MobiKwik, one of the country’s largest digital wallets, announced a reactivation program for its users. Messages were sent to inactive i.e. inactive users to get active again. Those who have not done any transaction using the Mobikwik app for the last one year, were sent a notification to reactivate their e-wallet.
Upikana Taku, co-founder of Mobikwik, said, “Users who are not active again may have to pay a nominal Wallet Maintenance Charge to continue their wallet services.” Large e-wallet companies like Freecharge have not yet implemented any such charge for their interactive users.
What is Inactive Wallet
As per RBI guidelines, prepaid instruments like e-wallet (mobile wallet) are considered inactive if there is no transaction for one year. The e-wallet company can send you notifications when it is inactive.

Mobikwik users will have to pay wallet maintenance charge
Mobikwik will charge a wallet maintenance charge between Rs 100 and Rs 140 from its interactive users. If users do not activate their wallet within 7 days notice, then the wallet maintenance charge will be levied. However, even after the maintenance charge is debited, if the users reactivate the wallet within 40 days, then this money will be refunded.
If your freecharge e-wallet is inactive, you will need to verify through the app using the registered mobile number associated with your PAN and wallet. If you want to reactivate your Mobikwik wallet, then you have to contact customer care and follow the prescribed norms.
