UP Yogi Budget 2024: The Uttar Pradesh government has set a target of 5.1 percent growth rate for the agriculture sector in the state in the annual budget for the financial year 2024-25.
UP Yogi Budget 2024: Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh has given a big gift to the farmers of the state. While presenting the eighth budget, Yogi government made many big announcements for the agriculture sector. The Uttar Pradesh government has set a target of 5.1 percent growth rate for the agriculture sector in the state in the annual budget for the financial year 2024-25. Three new schemes for the agriculture sector were announced in the budget (UP budget 2024). Also, announced to give pension to farmers above 60 years of age.
3 new schemes for agriculture
Yogi government has announced to start 3 new schemes for agriculture in the budget. Chief Minister Farm Security Scheme has also been started, State Agricultural Development Scheme and UP Agri Scheme has been announced. A total provision of Rs 460 crore has been made for 3 new schemes for agriculture. There is a provision of Rs 200 crore for ‘State Agricultural Development Scheme’. Rs 200 crore has also been allocated for the second World Bank supported ‘UP Agris Scheme’. A provision of Rs 50 crore has been made for the third Khet Mukhyamantri Khet Suraksha Yojana.
Apart from this, an outlay of Rs 2,400 crore has been proposed to provide electricity at concessional rates to the private tube wells of farmers. This amount is 25 percent more than the budget provided in the current financial year. It is related to the installation of automatic weather stations and automatic rain measuring instruments in the development blocks and gram panchayats of the state, for which Rs 60 crore has been allocated.
Farmers will get pension
Yogi government has made a big announcement for elderly farmers. Elderly farmers of the state will get a pension of Rs 3,000.

The work of modernization of 6,600 government tube wells in different districts and reconstruction of 569 failed government tube wells located in dark zones is in progress. In the year 2023-2024, about 37 lakh Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) were distributed till the month of October, 2023. Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), compensation of Rs 831 crore was paid to about 10 lakh insured farmers for 2022-2023 till the month of October, 2023.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi), an amount of about Rs 63,000 crore was transferred to the accounts of 2 crore 62 lakh farmers through DBT by December 2023. A record sugarcane price payment of more than Rs 2 lakh 33 thousand 793 crore was made to about 48 lakh sugarcane farmers by the present government from the year 2017 to January 29, 2024. A budget provision of Rs 1100 crore has been proposed to provide free water facility to farmers from canals and government tube wells. A provision of Rs 70 crore has been made for 569 failed tube wells in the dark zone.
A provision of Rs 1020 crore is proposed for the Chief Minister Minor Irrigation Scheme. A provision of Rs 80 crore is proposed for rain water harvesting and ground water augmentation scheme, which is about 51 percent more than the current year.
