Pension: There is big news for 62 lakh pensioners of Kerala. State Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday announced that the welfare pension arrears of 62 lakh pensioners in the state will be distributed in a timely manner. His government plans to increase it further. According to the news of Bhasha, he said that despite the financial difficulties faced by Kerala due to the policies and attitude of the Center, the state government will not back down from its development programs and welfare schemes. Actually, pension money of such a large number of pensioners is pending.
Gets Rs 1,600 every month
According to the news, the Chief Minister said in the Assembly that every beneficiary (pensioner) in Kerala gets Rs 1,600 every month and at present five installments are pending. Vijayan said that two of them will be given in the financial year 2024-25 while the rest in 2025-26. The Chief Minister made a statement in this regard in the Assembly under Rule 300. The Chief Minister said that it is the responsibility of his government to ensure that there is proper distribution of welfare benefits among the eligible people, so it will distribute the arrears in a timely manner.
Earlier the pension was Rs 600 per month
Vijayan said that during the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) government, the total beneficiaries of social security pension were 34,43,414 who used to get a pension of Rs 600 per month. The Chief Minister said that at present 62 lakh people are being given social security pension in the state. The pension amount has also been increased to Rs 1,600 in a phased manner.
The government aims to increase it further. In this special statement of the Chief Minister, the central government and its financial policies and attitude towards the state have also been criticized. This decision of the Kerala government will provide relief to lakhs of people waiting for pension arrears and their demand will be fulfilled.
