Orders have been issued to increase the dearness relief of lakhs of pensioners. The order issued by the ministry has been implemented from July.
DR Hike, Pensioners, Railway Employees: The Ministry had increased the dearness allowance of its employees by four percent. For which orders were also issued. After the order issued by the Railway Ministry, now 46% of their basic salary will be provided to the railway employees as dearness allowance. 3 months arrears amount will also be paid to railway employees.

Meanwhile, an order has also been issued by the Ministry for Railway Ministry pensioners and family pensioners. Dearness relief for pensioners has been increased by 4%. It has been implemented from July 1, 2023. In such a situation, the arrear amount of 4 months will also be paid to the pensioners. In such a situation, up to Rs 30,000 can be sent to the pensioner’s account.
Dearness relief for freedom fighter pensioners also increased
Following the order of increase in dearness relief issued by the Ministry of Pension and Pensioners, the dearness relief of freedom fighter pensioners has also been increased. Orders have been issued in this regard. Under the order issued, their dearness relief has been increased by 4%. With this, now they will be paid pension amount at the rate of 44%. The pension amount will be payable on basic salary. This has also been made effective from July 1, 2023.
The order said that recently, by the Office Memorandum of the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, the dearness relief in respect of Central Government pensioners has been increased by 4%. Therefore, the dearness relief admissible to Central Freedom Fighter/Spouse/Daughter pensioners under the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana (SSSY) Scheme, 1980 will be increased to 44% from the existing rate of 40%. Let us tell you that at present 40% dearness relief is being paid to freedom fighter pensioners.
The revised amount will be as follows
- After increase of 4% DR, i.e. total 44% dearness relief with effect from 01.07.2023, the revised amount of pension for various categories of pensioners will be as follows:
- The basic pay for ex-Andaman political prisoner/spouse is Rs 30,000, while dearness relief will be paid to Rs 43,200 with an increase of 44 per cent.
- The basic pay for a freedom fighter/spouse fighting outside British India is Rs 28,000, while dearness relief will be paid to Rs 40,320 with an increase of 44 per cent.
- For INA and other freedom fighters/spouse, the basic salary is Rs 26,000, while dearness relief will be paid to Rs 37,440 with an increase of 44 per cent.
- Dependent parents/eligible daughters (maximum 3 daughters at any time) 50% of the amount admissible to freedom fighters, i.e. in the range of Rs 13,000 to Rs 15,000 50% of the amount admissible to freedom fighters, i.e. Rs 18,720 to Rs 15,000. Payment up to Rs 21,600 will be made.
