The price of petrol has crossed Rs 100 per liter in many cities across the country. Due to the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, there is a direct impact on the pocket of the common man. An increase in the price of diesel also means an increase in inflation. Due to the epidemic, the people who are already suffering from inflation are getting more troubled.
After the rising prices of crude oil in the international market, there is no other option for the oil companies. On the other hand, due to heavy tax in the price of petrol and diesel, the prices are at this level. While the central government levies excise duty on petrol and diesel, the state governments also levy VAT and cess. This VAT and Cess is a major part of the income of the states.
