Petrol Pump Scam At Indian Oil Station In Yeshwanthpur (Bangalore): Beware Of Such Scams At Fuel Stations

We’ve all heard of multiple scams taking place at petrol stations across India. Customers coming to fuel their two and four-wheelers, if not alert are looted of hundreds if not thousands of rupees while trying to fill up their vehicles.

We’ve got information about one such incident, which happened today (29 January at 3:57 p.m.). According to one of our readers, an Indian Oil petrol station called Namrata Agency in Bangalore is said to be once such fuel station which people need to be aware of.

The customer entered the fuel station to fill up his car and initially noticed two fuel filling machines, the first read Rs 200 while the second had Rs 500, both from previous transactions. One of the attendants then came up to him to ask how much to fill up, when the customers replied stating he wanted a full tank.

The first attendant then went on to distract the customer, by talking about something leaking from his vehicle. This is when another attendant went ahead and started filling the customer’s car up using the machine which already had Rs 200 from a previous transaction.

The second attendant then stopped at Rs 300 and said ‘Rs 300 filled’. When the customer clarified that he had requested for a full tank, the attendant pretended that he did not hear ‘full tank’ and went on to fill from Rs 300 to a full tank (attached below is the bill of proof to show, the car owner filled a full tank of petrol).

The customer then confronted the attendants about it, mentioning that he had figured out their scam by distracting him at the start. However, the attendants started arguing and behaving in a rude manner to the customer.

When the customer took out his phone to get a photo of the bill, one of the attendants even rudely asked him to take his picture and instigated him to do what he liked.

The car owner has now contacted DriveSpark to bring the scam to notice so that Indian Oil will take strict action against the rude attendees at the petrol station.

Above is the image of the attendant who filled gas from Rs 200 to Rs 300 (without resetting the fuel meter back to zero) and then went on to fill a full tank of fuel. This is also the same attendant who was being rude to the customer and instigated him to do whatever he wants.

Hoping this scam is brought to your attention and strict action is taken against the IOC outlet and the attendees. Also, going forward proper training needs to be provided to attendees, so as to ensure such incidents/scams are not repeated.
