Phones Blocked: Government announcement..! 28,200 phones will be blocked, 2 lakh SIMs will be re-examined; Know what is the reason

Working closely with the Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Ministry of Home Affairs and State Police. In this they want to stop telecom resources from being misused in cyber crime and financial fraud. With the help of this partnership, we have to break the network of cyber fraud and also save people from the dangers of the digital world.

28,200 mobiles were misused

The Ministry of Home Affairs and the State Police together revealed that 28,200 mobile units were misused in cyber fraud. DoT analyzed and further said that 20 lakh numbers have been used in these handsets. After this DoT asked telecom service providers across India to block 28,200 mobile handsets. Along with this, he was asked to immediately reverify 20 lakh mobile connections.

Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) has been introduced

Earlier in March, Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had introduced a Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP), which is used for coordination between different stakeholders. It includes government, financial institutions like banks and online platforms. The objective of this platform is to prevent misuse of telecom resources in financial fraud and cyber crime.

Way to prevent miss use of SIM card

A decision was taken in August last year. Telecom Ministry has made it mandatory for SIM card dealers to undergo police and biometric verification. Bulk Sim Card for business connection for business/corporate and big groups will also be given after doing KYC of the employee.
