Platform Ticket Rules: Big Update! You can travel by train even with platform ticket, know what are the rules

Platform Ticket Rules: Whether you want to travel a long distance or want a comfortable journey, everyone prefers train travel. People make reservations months in advance to travel by train. For reservation (Reservation rules), tickets are booked in two ways. Tickets can be booked through ticket reservation window and online (Online train ticket booking). But, what to do if you have to travel suddenly? For this, most people consider Tatkal Ticket booking rules as the only option. But, today we are telling you that travel can also be done by taking platform ticket (Platform ticket rules). Don’t be surprised, it is true, let us know what the railway rules say…

Travel on platform ticket

If you have only a platform ticket and you have boarded the train, then there is no need to panic. You can get your ticket made by going to the ticket checker. Actually, this is the rule of Railways itself (Indian Railways Rules). In an emergency, a passenger can board the train with a platform ticket (Platform ticket rules), but he will have to immediately contact the TTE. Also, you will have to buy a ticket for the place where you want to go. However, sometimes TTE may refuse to give you a reserved seat due to non-availability of seats. But, that shouldn’t stop you from travelling. In such a situation, a penalty of Rs 250 and journey fare will be charged from the passenger.

What is its benefit?

The only benefit of Platform Ticket is that the passenger will have to pay the fare from the station from where he has taken the platform ticket. While collecting the fare, the same station will also be considered as the departure station. The passenger will be charged the fare of the same class in which he will be travelling.

What to do if you miss the train?

It is often seen that after missing the train, people get worried that they have missed the train and also lost their money. But, even if you miss the train, you can get a refund (Indian Railways Refund rules). In case of missing a train, a passenger can claim a refund of 50 percent of the base fare of his ticket by filling TDR. But, you will have to do this work within the stipulated time limit.

TTE cannot give your seat to anyone.

If you have missed your train then TTE cannot allot your seat to anyone till the next two stations. You can complete your journey by reaching the next two stations before the train. But, after two stations TTE can allot a seat to a passenger with RAC ticket.

Don’t worry even if you lose your train ticket.

If you have taken an e-ticket for rail travel and after boarding the train you find out that the ticket is lost, then you can get your ticket back by paying a penalty of Rs 50 to the ticket checker (TTE).
