PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana: Free food grains will be available till Diwali, know who can take advantage of it

PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana: Keeping in mind the lock down, the central government had started it on 26 March 2020 last year so that the poor people do not face any problem.

PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana: About 80 crore people across the country will be given free food grains till Diwali this year under PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana. This was announced by the Prime Minister himself while addressing the country today. The purpose of this scheme is to provide food grains to the poor and needy during the Corona period.

PM Modi today assured that the government is with the poor in the time of epidemic. The Prime Minister said that the government is making continuous efforts so that no poor should sleep hungry. Due to this, by November, more than 80 crore countrymen will get free food grains in fixed quantity every month.

Food grains were distributed to 55 crore beneficiaries in May 2021
Keeping in mind the lock down, the Central Government had started on 26 March 2020 last year so that the poor people should not face any problem. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, more than 63.67 lakh metric tonnes of food grains have been taken from FCI depots by the states and union territories. In May 2021, food grains have been distributed to 55 crore beneficiaries of 34 states and union territories. This grain is about 28 lakh metric tonnes.

Who is eligible for PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana

All ration card holders can get 5 kg of food grains for free through this scheme. If you do not have a ration card, then you cannot take free food grains under this scheme. The number of people with ration cards in the country is 80 crore. Under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, in addition to the food grains available on the ration card every month, free 5 kg food grains are given. All the people whose names are registered in your ration card are given 5 kg of food grains free of cost.


Such people are given priority
Through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, priority is given to the citizens of the economically weaker sections of the country such as road dwellers, garbage collectors, hawkers, rickshaw pullers, migrant laborers etc.
