Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 18th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) scheme at a function organized in Washim district of Maharashtra on October 5. An official note from the Washim district administration said that in this program, more than 9.4 crore farmers across the country will be given assistance of Rs 20,000 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Two and a half crore farmers will participate through webcast
According to the press note, ‘About two and a half crore farmers across the country will participate in this program through webcast. 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), more than one lakh Primary Agriculture Co-operative Societies and five lakh Common Service Centres will participate in the programme. The notification said that so far, Rs 32,000 crore has been given to about 1.20 crore farmers in Maharashtra in 17 installments. It said that in the 18th installment, about 91.51 lakh farmers of the state will get the benefit of more than Rs 1,900 crore.
Will release an additional amount of 2,000 crores
Prime Minister Namo will also release an additional amount of about Rs 2,000 crore for the farmers of Maharashtra under the fifth installment of the Shetkari Mahasamman Nidhi Yojana. At around 12 noon, Prime Minister Modi will launch several initiatives related to agriculture and animal husbandry worth about 23,300 crores and at around 4 pm, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth more than 32,800 crores in Thane. At 6 pm, he will flag off the metro train running between BKC to Aarey JVLR, Mumbai from BKC Metro Station. He will also ride in the metro between BKC and Santacruz station.
A total of Rs 3.45 lakh crore will be released to the farmers
With the release of the 18th installment, the total amount released to the farmers under ‘PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi’ will be around Rs 3.45 lakh crore. During the program, he will also felicitate beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana. The PMO said that the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of major metro and road projects in an effort to boost urban mobility in the region. He will inaugurate the BKC to Aarey JVLR section of Mumbai Metro Line-3 costing around Rs 14,120 crore.
