Actually, the target of the central government is to double the income of farmers by the year 2022, for which the government is launching many schemes for the farmers. One of these schemes is PM Kusum Yojana.
Under this scheme, farmers get solar panels on subsidy, from which they can generate electricity. By using the electricity they need, they can also earn extra income by selling the rest. Under this scheme, 20 lakh farmers will be helped to install solar pumps. Funds will be provided to 15 lakh farmers for setting up grid connected solar pumps. The government has announced to spend Rs 34,422 crore on this scheme.
Getting 90% discount
Under this scheme, farmers have to pay only 10 percent of the amount for installing solar panels on their land. Central and state governments give 60 percent subsidy amount to farmers in their bank accounts. In this, there is a provision for equal contribution from the center and the states. At the same time, there is a provision of 30 percent loan from the bank. Farmers can easily fill this loan from their income.
How to apply
For application under PM Kusum Yojana, registration has to be done by visiting the official website https://mnre.gov.in/. For this, details of Aadhar card, property documents and bank account will have to be given. The land should be within a radius of 5 km from the power sub-station for setting up a solar plant. Farmers can install solar plants themselves or by leasing the land to the developer.
