Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Dr. Manmohan Singh. Paying tribute to Manmohan Singh, PM Modi said that India is mourning the death of Dr. Manmohan Singh, one of its most distinguished leaders. Rising from a simple background, he became a distinguished economist.

He further said that he served in various government positions including Finance Minister and left a deep mark on our economic policy for years. His interventions in Parliament were also very practical. As Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve the lives of the people.

All government programmes scheduled for Friday have been cancelled and a cabinet meeting has been called at 11 am. Congress has also cancelled all its programmes for the next seven days, including the foundation day celebrations.

Every effort was made to save him, but he could not be saved. His body was taken home from AIIMS.

Regarding the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Delhi AIIMS wrote in a press release that he was brought to the medical emergency of AIIMS, New Delhi at 8:06 pm. Despite all efforts, he could not be saved and he was declared dead at 9:51 pm.
