The Finance Ministry said on Wednesday that banks and financial institutions have sanctioned loans worth about Rs 15 lakh crore to more than 28 crore beneficiaries under the Mudra scheme in the last six years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched PMMY i.e.Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana on 8 April 2015 to promote entrepreneurship in the country.
The Department of Financial Services, under the Ministry of Finance, wrote on Twitter, “As on March 26, 2021, under the Mudra Yojana, banks and financial institutions have loaned Rs.15.10 lakh crore to 28.81 crore beneficiaries. Approved. ”
Guarantee-free loans up to Rs 10 lakh in three categories
According to the department, under this scheme, guarantee-free loans of up to Rs 10 lakh are provided in three categories – Shishu, Kishore and Tarun for income-generating activities in the manufacturing, trade and service sectors and agriculture related activities.
Loans up to 50 thousand rupees to beneficiaries under Shishu category
Last year, the government gave 2 loans to borrowers under the ‘Shishu’ category of PMMY to help small businesses under the self-sustaining India campaign package announced in May to help tackle the difficulties posed by the lockdown imposed for the prevention of the corona virus epidemic. Decided to provide cent per cent interest subsidy. Under Shishu category, a guaranteed free loan of up to Rs 50 thousand is given to the beneficiaries.
The benefit of the interest subvention scheme was extended to those loans which were not in the NPA category till March 31, 2020, ie installments were continuously coming. By the end of March 2020, 9.37 crore loan accounts were running in the child category of the PMMY scheme, with a debt outstanding of Rs 1.62 lakh crore.
Last year, the interest subsidy scheme for the borrowers who got the moratorium on repayment of loan installments as per the RBI plan, was launched for 12 months after completion of the moratorium period i.e. from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021. . For other borrowers, the scheme starts from June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021.
