PM Ujjwala Yojana: Under the Ujjwala scheme, women living below the poverty line will again be given 1 crore free gas connections. This time it will be distributed in those states and areas where it has less reach.

PM Ujjwala Yojna: Presenting the General Budget on February 1, 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced that under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, one crore LPG connections would be given free of cost to the poor this year. According to the latest news, the Petroleum Ministry has prepared the roadmap for the second phase. It is believed that its official announcement can be made in this month.

Under this scheme, the facility of free gas connection is provided to the citizens of the country who live below the poverty line. According to the Economic Times report, till January 31, 83 crore people have been given free LPG connections. It was announced in the budget that in the current financial year, new gas connections will be distributed to those states and regions, where its reach is still low or negligible. This is also important because, after its distribution, the roadmap for other schemes is prepared by the government. This creates a data base with the government. During the Corona epidemic, free gas was given by the government for three months. It was distributed under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched on 1 May 2016. It is important to mention here that when you take a gas connection, the cost of the stove comes to Rs 3,200. For which a subsidy of Rs 1,600 is given by the government. But, the remaining Rs 1,600 has to be paid by the beneficiaries in installments to the oil companies.

Under the slogan ‘Clean Fuel, Better Life’, the government started this scheme on May 1, 2016. This scheme was done by PM Modi under a social welfare scheme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The objective of this scheme was that India should emerge as a smoke free country. Under this, gas connections were to be provided free of cost to 5 crore people of the country. For which the deadline was fixed in 2019. This scheme was especially for those women, who live below the poverty line.
