Till May 5, 23.37 crores have been enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and 10.33 crores under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a meeting with the heads of public and private sector insurance companies on Saturday. In this meeting, the process of settlement of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) will be discussed further. It is believed that in this meeting, the idea of simplifying the process of documentation under this scheme will be considered. Also, the insurance companies will transfer the sum insured to the nominee with immediate effect within a specified period.
In a tweet issued by the Finance Ministry, it has been said that till May 5, 23.37 crores have been enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and 10.33 crores under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. Both these schemes were started in 2015. Since coming to power, the Modi government has taken many important decisions keeping in mind the social security. Keeping in mind the direct benefit transfer, 42 crore bank accounts were opened across the country under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. This made it easier for the government to benefit from any scheme and the problem of middlemen was removed.

Insurance is available for a total of Rs 4 lakh
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), a total insurance of Rs 4 lakh is available. Life cover is available in PMJJBY till the age of 55 years. It is a type of term insurance which has to be renewed every year. In this, in the event of the death of the insured, his family members can claim Rs 2 lakh from the government. In this, the corona epidemic is also being covered along with other diseases. In such a situation, even if a person dies of corona, the family can claim for the money. This plan is renewed every year. Its annual premium is Rs 330.
Prime Minister’s Suraksha Bima Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana is a Government Accidental Policy (Personal Accident Insurance Scheme). This scheme covers accidental death for one year i.e. death due to accident and disability due to accident. This scheme is renewed every year. There are three types of benefits available in this scheme. The first benefit pertains to accidental death. If the insured person dies, the nominee will get Rs 2 lakh. Even if one’s both hands, feet or eyes go in an accident, then he will get the benefit of 2 lakhs. If he loses sight of one eye or is disabled in one leg or hand, then he will get a benefit of 1 lakh.
