If you do not have a balance in your account, even then you can withdraw up to Rs 10,000. Apart from this, the facility of Rupay Debit Card is given, from which you can withdraw money from the account and also make purchases.
Please tell that in 2014, in his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the launch of Jan Dhan Yojana. The scheme was launched on August 28 of the same year. Under this scheme, the total number of Jan Dhan accounts increased to 41.6 crores by 6 January 2021, the government started the second version of the scheme in 2018 with more facilities and benefits.
Free accident insurance of Rs 2 lakhs
In the second edition of the scheme, the government decided to target every person in place of each family, who were still denied banking facilities. Apart from this, after 28 August 2018, the free accident insurance cover for holders of RuPay cards on open Jan Dhan accounts was doubled to Rs 2 lakh.
Documents required to open Jan Dhan account
For opening a Jan Dhan account, you can also submit documents fulfilling the requirement of Know Your Customer (KYC) including Aadhar card, passport, driving license. If you do not have documents, you can open a small account. In this, you have to fill the self-attested photograph and your signature in front of the bank officer. You do not have to pay any fees or charges for opening a Jan Dhan account. Anyone 10 years of age or older can open this account.
