Property Registration Update: You will not have to pay more this year for house-plot registration, check new rates

Collector Rates: Collector rate is the rate of a property, below which the registration of that property cannot be done.

Property Registration Update: Haryana government has rejected the proposal of Revenue Department to increase collector rate of land. Revenue Department wanted to increase collector rate by 10 to 20 percent. But, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini is not in favor of this. He has given clear instructions that land registration in Haryana will be done at the old collector rate only. In Haryana, revised collector rates are implemented in April after March. This time, due to Lok Sabha elections, the code of conduct was in place. Due to this, the new collector rates could not be implemented.

As soon as the code of conduct was lifted, proposals for revised collector rates were sent to the Revenue Department from the districts. When this file reached Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini for approval, he returned this file to the department and ordered to register the lands at the old rate in all the districts of the state. Former CM of the state Manohar Lal Khattar had given instructions during his tenure that before increasing the collector rate, the property prices in the districts should be ascertained properly.

There was a proposal for an increase of up to 20%

This time the Revenue Department in Haryana had proposed to increase the collector rate by 10 to 20 percent. The maximum proposals for increasing the collector rate came from the districts under NCR. These include Rohtak, Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal, Bahadurgarh, Sonipat, Karnal, Panipat districts. The district administration here had sent proposals for an increase of up to 20 percent in the collector rate.

What happens

Collector rate is very important for buying and selling of land. Registration fees are charged on the basis of collector rate. The government fixes collector rate for land in every village, city and district. Land registration is not done below collector rate. The district administration fixes collector rate for the land of the district only after studying the situation and market research at different places and sends its proposal to the revenue department. Collector rate is fixed after the approval of the state government.
