It is said that Lord Krishna was born in a dungeon in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. He was born at midnight, so according to tradition, Krishna Janmashtami Puja is performed in Nishita Kaal, which is around midnight. This year Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 26th August.
