UP Diwali Holiday 2024: The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has announced Diwali holidays, giving good news to the people living in the state. The Chief Secretary of the government has issued orders to all government departments in this regard. According to the order, it has become clear on which date festivals like Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj will be celebrated. The Yogi government of UP organizes a grand Deepotsav in Ayodhya on the occasion of Diwali every year. Preparations for this start months in advance.

Orders issued to all DMs and treasuries

But this time there is still confusion among the people about Diwali. They are not able to understand whether this time the festival of Diwali should be celebrated on 31 October or on 1 November. After the announcement of the government, this confusion has been removed that this time the festival of Diwali will be celebrated on 31 October itself. According to the order issued by Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar to all DMs and treasuries of the state, orders have been given to release the salary of government employees before Diwali. This has also cleared the confusion regarding Diwali.

Confusion over Diwali cleared

In the order issued by the government, it has been made clear that this year the festival of Diwali will be celebrated on 31 October and all government offices will remain closed on this day. After this, the festival of Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 2 November and there will be a holiday on this day as well. The festival of Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on 3 November. The government has not yet declared a holiday for 1 November. There is no clarity yet on whether government offices will remain open or closed on 1 November.

When will Diwali be celebrated

This time the festival of Diwali was falling for two days. This is because this time Amavasya Tithi is falling for two days – on 31 October and 1 November. Because of this people were confused about when Diwali will be celebrated. As per the rules, Diwali is celebrated on the night of Amavasya. This time Amavasya is starting from 2:40 pm on 31 October and will remain till the afternoon of 1 November. But, there will be no Amavasya on the night of 1 November. Therefore, the festival of Diwali will be celebrated on 31 October.
