Public Holiday: Government declared 33 public and 20 optional holidays for employees in the new year – check list here

Public Holiday: The state government has released the calendar for the year 2025. It has declared 33 public and 20 optional holidays. Due to government holidays on Sunday or Saturday, employees will get 11 fewer holidays in 2025 as compared to 2024. Due to holidays on Monday or Friday, 9 weekends next year will be of 3 days each. A new holiday of Parshvanath Jayanti has been shown in the list of optional holidays. Four holidays are on Sunday and 5 on Saturday.

From 10th to 14th April, there will be 5 consecutive holidays due to Mahavir Jayanti, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti and Ambedkar Jayanti falling on Saturday-Sunday. In 2025, Republic Day, Cheti Chand, Ram Navami, Moharram will also be holidays on Sunday. Eid-ul-Zuha, Tribal Day, Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti will be on Saturday. There is a public holiday in banks on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. As per the Holiday Calendar 2025, there will be a public holiday on Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti on 6th January and on Republic Day on 26th January.

There will be a public holiday in schools and government and private offices on Mahashivratri festival on February 26. There will be a public holiday on the occasion of Holika Dahan on March 13, Dhulandi on March 14, Idul Fitr (from the moon) on March 31. There will be a government holiday in schools and colleges on the occasion of Ramnavami on April 6, Mahavir Jayanti on the 10th, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti on the 11th, Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti on the 14th, Good Friday on the 18th and Parashuram Jayanti on April 29. There will be a public holiday on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti on May 29 and Idul-Azuha on June 7.

Talking about the public holidays in the months of July, August and September, there will be a public holiday on 6th July on account of Moharram (Tazia) Chand. There will be a public holiday on 9th August on account of Rakshabandhan, 15th August on account of Independence Day and 16th August on account of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

There will be public holiday on the occasion of Ramdev Jayanti, Teja Dashami and Khejadli Martyr’s Day on 2 September, Barawafat (from the moon) on 5 September, Navratri Sthapana and Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti on 22 September, Durgashtami on 30 September, Vijayadashami and Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October, Diwali on 20 October, Govardhan Pujan on 22, Bhai Dooj on 23 October, Guru Nanak Jayanti on 5 November, Christmas Day on 25 and Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti on 27 December.
