Public Holiday in Maharashtra: After getting several days of Diwali holiday in Maharashtra, now again three consecutive days of holiday will be available. For information, let us tell you that assembly elections are to be held in the state this month, for which public holiday has been announced. Under which all government and private schools of the state will have a holiday on November 20. Before this, there is also a public holiday on Guru Nanak Jayanti on Friday, November 15. That is, on November 15 and 20, schools, colleges and government offices will remain closed in entire Maharashtra including Mumbai.

Elections for the 288 seats of the Maharashtra Assembly will be held on November 20 and the counting of votes will take place three days later on November 23. According to the Election Commission, a public holiday has been declared on polling day.

All establishments, businesses and other workplaces falling within the limits of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are required to give leave to their employees to vote in the Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20. Violation of this directive will lead to action against employers under the guidelines of the Election Commission.

Public Holiday Declared On Polling Day in Maharashtra

This decision has been taken to enable voters of Mumbai city and Mumbai suburban area to exercise their franchise and increase the voting percentage. However, employees whose absence may cause danger to the public or their establishment will not be penalized. Apart from this, it will be strictly applicable to all employers.

An order said, employers have to provide paid leave to their employees to vote on November 20 in their constituencies and this rule will be applicable to all industrial areas, corporations, companies and other establishments. If it is not possible to give a full day leave due to any special situation, then at least four hours of leave can be given. But for this permission has to be taken from the District Election Officer.
