Public holiday: Month of October is full of festivals, in which banks are going to remain closed for a total of 15 days. These include major festivals like Vijayadashami and Diwali. Due to these holidays, banks are having a long weekend, due to which banks will remain closed for four consecutive days. In such a situation, if you have to go to the branch for any bank related work, then definitely check the list of holidays. This will save your precious time from being wasted.

The total 15 days of holidays in the month of October include the second and fourth Saturdays of the month as well as Sunday’s weekly holiday. Apart from this, banks will also remain closed due to special festivals in various states.

Holidays on account of Dussehra and other festivals

October 10 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed on account of Durga Puja/Maha Saptami in Tripura, Assam, Nagaland and West Bengal.

October 11 (Friday): Banks will remain closed on account of Maha Ashtami/Mahan Navami/Ayudha Puja/Durga Puja (Dassain)/Durga Ashtami in Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, West Bengal and Bihar.

October 12 (Saturday): All banks will remain closed on account of second Saturday of the month.

October 13 (Sunday): Weekly holiday.

October 14 (Monday): Banks will remain closed on account of Durga Puja (Dassain) in Sikkim.

15 October holiday declared on Tuesday in Punjab for Panchayat elections

This holiday has been declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and a circular has also been issued for this. In view of the election atmosphere in the state, all government offices, boards and corporations will remain closed on this day. Elections are to be held in more than 3,000 gram panchayats in the state. October 4 was the last date for nomination, while the scrutiny of nomination papers was completed on October 5.

Information about other holidays

Apart from this, a holiday has also been declared on October 17, which will be celebrated as the Pargat Divas of Maharishi Valmiki Ji. A Shobha Yatra will be taken out on this day on October 16.

October 16 (Wednesday): Banks will remain closed in Tripura and West Bengal on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja.

October 17 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in Karnataka, Assam and Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti or Khati Bihu.

October 31 (Wednesday): All banks will remain closed on Diwali festival.

Special information

On the occasion of Dussehra, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days from October 10 to 13 in Tripura, Assam and West Bengal, while there will be a long weekend in Sikkim from October 11 to 14.
