Chinese decorative items will not be used during Diwali in Ayodhya
Meanwhile, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust, which manages the Ram temple in Ayodhya, has decided not to use Chinese decorative items during Diwali to promote local craft skills. The city of Ayodhya is preparing for a grand Deepotsav this year. This will be the eighth edition of the event and the first after the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in January. The temple premises will also be decorated with diyas and other items.
According to a statement released in the media, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust has banned the use of Chinese decorative items during Diwali. Local craftsmanship has been promoted and is in sync with the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative and the move towards a self-reliant India.
Police said that around 10,000 security personnel will be on duty to maintain security during the Deepotsav event and about half of them will be in plain clothes. When asked about the decision not to use Chinese decorative items for the Ram temple, Ayodhya Commissioner Gaurav Dayal said that basically we want to use only those items which are indigenous and local. He said that they will not use Chinese items.
