The second wave of Corona virus has engulfed the entire country. In such a situation, migrant laborers are returning to their homes once again due to increasing corona cases, due to which the trains are now seen to be crowded. Railway stations and bus stands were filled with crowds of migrants to leave Pune and return to their homes on Wednesday, a day after the Maharashtra government imposed stringent restrictions on public traffic in the wake of Kovid-19. However, in the meantime, Central Railway has appealed to people not to get upset and not to crowd the railway station.
As soon as the appeal made by CM Thackeray reached the people in the state on Tuesday evening, the migrant workers started gathering at the Pune railway station. Many of these people appeared upset to get a ticket for the train leaving for Uttar Pradesh at 9 pm.
However, in his address, appealing to the workers, CM Thackeray said, “These restrictions are aimed at saving lives. I request everyone to support the government in the fight against Kovid-19. ”
Those returning to their original locations included industrial workers, hotel workers and laborers working on real estate sites in Pune district. However, the government has given permission to operate industries and in-situ manufacturing sites.
Along with the public holiday on Tuesday due to Gudi Padwa, it was also a holiday on Wednesday due to the birth anniversary of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar, in such a large number of people arrived at Pune station to catch the train. Meanwhile, the police force and station officials took a long time to explain and stop the crowd as people were desperate to return without advance booking.
As soon as the workers started leaving the city, Maharashtra Labor Minister Hassan Musharif appealed to the workers not to panic and said that the Maharashtra government would make all the arrangements for the workers. Mushrif said, “Even though the government is planning to impose the lockdown, it will be just two weeks. The government is also planning to make arrangements for the workers during this period. I appeal to all the workers not to leave Maharashtra, they have made a big and significant contribution to the development of the state. ”
“The workers who had confirmed tickets were allowed entry inside the station, while the rest were repatriated,” said a Pune railway station official.
A laborer who came to catch a train to go to Lucknow, who was not allowed inside the station, said, “My partner got a confirmed ticket, but I could not get the ticket, so I will stay in the city for a few days at the moment.” And then I will go back. ”
Let us tell you that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday announced Section-144 in the entire state to curb the growing cases of Corona in the state. Considering the situation, the state government has announced imposition of a statewide curfew of 15 days from 8 pm on 14 April.
CM Thackeray, addressing the people of the state through social media, said that the curfew would start from eight o’clock on Wednesday night and although necessary services have been exempted. Thackeray said that Section 144 (Prohibition) of Criminal Procedure will remain in force till the restrictions remain in force like lockdown. However, he did not call the new restrictions as lockdown.
Earlier on Tuesday, 60,212 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in Maharashtra and 281 people died. The state health department said that with the introduction of new cases, the total number of people infected so far in the state has increased to 35,19,208, while a total of 58,526 people have died due to the epidemic so far.
