Purchase at Minimum Support Price: Now farmers will be able to sell wheat at any center

In 72 hours, the payment for purchasing the crop will be done directly in the account, know what will be the new arrangement now

Recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is trying to save life and livelihood in the Corona era, has taken a big decision in the interest of farmers. On his instructions, a comprehensive change has been made in the previously fixed system of purchasing wheat for the convenience of the farmers. Farmers will now be able to sell their wheat at the minimum support price at any government purchasing center. For this, the order regarding affiliation of the revenue village of the farmer from the nearest purchasing center has been rejected. New decision The farmers will be able to sell their produce by going to the purchasing center at their convenience. This decision of the government is going to give relief to the farmers.

What will be the new arrangement for wheat procurement now

On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Additional Commissioner Food and Logistics Department has issued a mandate regarding selling wheat of the farmer at any purchasing center. This new order states that the requirement of affiliation of revenue villages with the purchasing centers set up outside the mandi site has been abolished. However, in the previous order mandating the affiliation of revenue villages, it was also taken care that farmers do not have to travel long distances to sell their wheat. Due to the increasing transition of Corona, a new system has been created to give more convenience to the farmers. This has allowed the farmer to sell wheat to the minimum support price (Rs. 1975 per quintal) fixed by the government by visiting any purchasing center of the district.

Farmers will also be free to sell wheat at the mandi site as before

Farmers will be free to sell their wheat at the mandi site as before. According to the order of the Additional Commissioner Food and Logistics Department, farmers of a village will be able to sell wheat at the minimum support price at the purchasing center of another district near their village. For this, the District Procurement Officer in consultation with the Procurement Officer of another district will give permission to the farmer. The order also clearly states that no purchasing center will be closed under any circumstances.

The purchase of produce will be paid in 72 hours

Like other states, the state of Uttar Pradesh has also made arrangements to pay farmers during 72 hours of wheat procurement. Under this, the government will pay the farmers for the purchase of wheat in their accounts within 72 hours of purchasing the crop. Officers have been directed for this. Let us tell you that this arrangement has been done in Punjab also by the Central Government, which was opposed by the auditors in the past. The reason behind this was that the Aditya did not want the farmers to get direct money. He was also afraid that his role would end if this happened. But despite much opposition, this system was implemented in Punjab, which has directly benefited the farmers.

No need to worry if you are not registered to sell wheat

If a farmer has not yet been registered to sell wheat, he does not have to worry. Farmers can still register at any public service center. If this is not possible, then he can also register by taking the documents related to his farming and bank account to the purchasing center.

How much wheat has been procured on MSP here so far

There are 144 centers for wheat procurement in Gorakhpur district. Till date, 8150 MT (MT) wheat has been procured from 1600 farmers at minimum support price. It is expected that this will be further accelerated by the discount of selling wheat at any purchasing center.

According to the statement of the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, a total of 427.363 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been estimated to be procured during the Rabi marketing season 2021-22. Which is 9.56 percent more than the 389.93 lakh metric ton during the Rabi marketing season 2020-21. A target of purchasing 55 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been set in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier in the year 2020 (procurement year 2020-21), the UP government had set a target of procuring 55 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, while 35.67 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was procured. Although the central government has set an estimated target of purchasing 55 lakh metric tonnes of wheat for UP, but according to officials of the Food and Logistics Department of UP, the whole wheat will be purchased.
