NHAI Chairman Santosh Yadav expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in the Raebareli-Prayagraj four-lane project and directed to complete it by December. Under this project, 106 km of road is being widened. In view of the Maha Kumbh, there will be a provision of ambulance traffic management system and mapping of emergency hospitals on all roads. The chairman also issued instructions for daily review of the projects and necessary improvements.

NHAI Chairman Santosh Yadav expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in the work of Rae Bareli-Prayagraj Highway Fourlane. Expressing displeasure at the NHAI officials, he said that the work of this project should be completed by December at any cost. The work of widening this highway is being done at a cost of Rs 1636 crore. Under this, 106 km of road is being widened.

The chairman reviewed the work of NHAI in the auditorium of the Mela Authority with the Principal Secretary of the state Urban Development Amrit Abhijat and Principal Secretary PWD Ajay Chauhan on Wednesday. Rae Bareli-Prayagraj Highway is also included in the important projects of NHAI. On the Prayagraj-Lucknow National Highway, 82 km from Rae Bareli to Lucknow is already a four-lane, while from Rae Bareli to Prayagraj there was only a two-lane.

A total of 24.14 km bypass and a bridge over the Sai river are being built in Jagatpur, Babuganj, Unchahar and Anapur from Prayagraj to Rae Bareli. Due to heavy traffic from Nawabganj to Malak Harhar, the highway is being made six lane for about 8.5 km. Four lane will be constructed from Lal Gopalganj to Nawabganj for 18 km. This highway will provide a lot of convenience to the devotees coming from Lucknow as well as Bareilly, Moradabad and many districts of western Uttar Pradesh along with Uttarakhand.
Chairman reviewed

The chairman reviewed all the works related to the ring road and the six-lane bridge being built on the Ganga point by point. He discussed in detail with the project directors of all the three projects about the material, manpower and fund related problems in the works, understanding the target of their weekly micro plan. Wherever material or manpower related problems were reported in all the three projects.

There he instructed to bring the expected progress in the works by shifting resources and manpower from other cities of NHAI. He instructed all the project directors to review the progress of the works daily and submit the report. He clarified that he himself will review the progress of the works through video conferencing.

He also instructed to make special arrangements for operation and maintenance on all the roads of NHAI related to Maha Kumbh, so that minor repair work can be done immediately if required. In view of this work, he asked every operation and maintenance agency to appoint a special team leader.

Ambulances should be deployed on highways, hospitals should be mapped

The chairman said that arrangements for BLS and ALS (Advanced Life Support) ambulances should be made on all NHAI roads related to Maha Kumbh. Instructions were given to map all the hospitals located around those roads and make arrangements to reach the nearest hospital in case of emergency. Instructions were given to deploy incident vehicles on all roads.

Instructions were also given to make advance traffic management system, painting on dividers, fog reflectors and adequate lighting arrangements on all roads. All regional officers and project directors should talk to their safety consultants and prepare and submit a road wise safety plan.

Principal Secretary Urban Development also directed to install multi-language sign boards in the required format on all NHAI roads in compliance with IRC guidelines. Principal Secretary PWD asked to hold regular review meetings for monitoring all works and Divisional Commissioner asked NHAI officials to work in better coordination with the officials of all the concerned districts.
