Initially incorrect information, then improved
National Seismology Center (NCS) said that the earthquake measured 6.3. The earthquake occurred at 10.34 pm. NCL operations chief JL Gautam said, “The epicenter of the earthquake was Tajikistan. Initial investigations revealed that the center was Amritsar. We have revised that information.” At the same time, M Rajeevan, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, said that the message was taken by ‘fault in the system’ and it has been rectified. The NCS said that there were two tremors in the earthquake, at 10.31 in Tajikistan and 10.34 in Amritsar. Later, Gautam said, “One blow came.”
