Three times the fare in the name of special

The operation of trains was stopped in March 2020 during the Corona period. After this, Railways started special trains to reduce the crowd. By adding 0 in front of the numbers of ordinary trains, they were run as special trains and the fares were increased. Their minimum fare was reduced to Rs 30. Since then, increased fares were being charged in passenger trains for the last four years. With this decision of the Railway Board, only Rs 10 fare will have to be paid for traveling up to 50 km in passenger trains. After that i.e. after 50 km, the fare will increase by Rs 5 for every 10 to 15 km traveled. Now passengers will be able to travel up to 90 kilometers for Rs 30.

Travel to Sikar for Rs 20 and Jaipur for Rs 40

The benefit of reducing the minimum fare to Rs 10 in passenger trains will be available in six passenger trains running on Sikar-Jhunjhunu and Loharu routes. Trains running from Bathinda to Loharu, trains running from Jhunjhunu to Sikar to Jaipur, trains running from Jaipur to Sikar and Jhunjhunu to Bathinda, trains running from Sikar to Jhunjhunu to Rewari, DEMU trains from Rewari to Loharu, Jhunjhunu to Sikar, DEMU trains from Sikar to Jhunjhunu to Loharu. And this facility will be available in the DEMU train going from Loharu via Jhunjhunu Sikar.

  • Ring fare from Jhunjhunu was earlier Rs 55, now Rs 30.

No concession in these categories

From March 2020, Railways had also stopped the concessions given to passengers in many categories. Railways used to give fare concessions to 55 categories of passengers. But after Corona, this exemption was stopped for many of these categories. Senior citizens, cancer patients and disabled, who cannot travel without an escort, were given 75 per cent concession in Second Class, Sleeper, First Class, 3 AC, AC Chaircar and 50 per cent concession in First AC and Second AC. There was also a provision for concession for blind passengers, completely mute passengers and seriously ill patients. Similarly, the service of concessional tickets to many categories including national level awardees, journalists, sports, war, widow women, youth, scouts etc. is closed. The Parliamentary Standing Committee has also recommended to restore these services.
