In Indian trains, you can carry luggage weighing between 40 to 70 kgs. The weight of luggage you can carry is decided based on the category of coach.
If you are travelling in sleeper class, then according to the rules of Indian Railways, you can carry up to 40 kg of luggage. If you are carrying more luggage than this, then you can be fined if caught.
If your ticket is in third AC, then you can carry luggage weighing up to 40 kg with you. In second AC, this limit has been fixed at 50 kg.
If your ticket is in First AC, then you can carry up to 70 kg of luggage with you. If you want to travel with more luggage in the train, then you will have to book a luggage van for this.
