Mega Block Mumbai: Western Railway has started the work of laying the sixth line between Goregaon and Kandivali. This may cause inconvenience to the passengers. A five-hour block will be taken on the night of 28 and 29 August, due to which many local trains will be cancelled. This work will not be done during Ganeshotsav.
Mumbai: Western Railway has started the work of laying the sixth line between Goregaon and Kandivali from the night of 27/28 August to improve rail service. Due to the start of the work of the sixth line, passengers may face difficulties while reaching home on Wednesday night. According to the railway, a five-hour block will be taken on the night of 28/29 August due to the work of laying the line. This block will remain from 23 pm to 4 am.
During the block, 22 local trains of Churchgate-Borivali, Virar-Andheri, Andheri-Nalasopara and Bhayander-Churchgate have been canceled on the night of 28 August. At the same time, four local services have been short terminated.
140 local trains canceled
Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, the railway has decided to take major blocks only on Saturday and Sunday to complete the work. During this period, 100 to 140 local services will remain cancelled, while 40 services will be short terminated.
Work will be completed in 35 days
According to the railways, a sixth line of about 4.5 km will be laid between Goregaon and Kandivali stations. This work will continue till 5/6 October. A 10-hour block will be taken on Saturday/Sunday night for this work. The target has been set to complete the work of laying the line in 35 days. No work will be done during Ganeshotsav from September 11 to September 17. After completion of this work, the capacity of local train service will increase.
