Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that this time general coaches have been increased in 108 trains in the festive season. He said that approval has been given to increase 12,500 coaches for Chhath Puja and Diwali special trains in these trains. A total of 5,975 trains have been notified so far in the year 2024-25. This will provide convenience to about one crore passengers going home on the occasion of Chhath Puja.
4429 special trains operated last year
Earlier in 2023-24, during the festive season, 4,429 special trains were operated by the Railways keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers. Some time ago, 342 trains were operated by the Railways on the occasion of Ganpati Puja and Konkan. The Railway Minister had earlier said that when the Prime Minister had faith in the railway engineers, Vande Bharat was made and its version 1, 2, 3, new types of Namo Bharat train, Vande Bharat Sleeper all started being made. These things were earlier imported from abroad. On September 16, Prime Minister Modi flagged off the country’s first Vande Metro train.
