Dearness Allowance Hike: After increasing DA by the Central and State Governments, now the Railway Board has also taken steps on this. Railway Board has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees from 42 percent to 46 percent of the basic salary. This time also the Railway Board has increased DA by 4 percent. This change will be considered effective from July 1, 2023. The Board wrote a letter in this regard to the General Managers and Chief Administrative Officers of ‘All India Railways and Production Units’ on October 23, 2023.
Bonus of Rs 15,000 crore approved
The board wrote that it is happy to take this decision that the dearness allowance of railway employees is being increased by 4 percent. With this, it has been increased from the existing 42 percent to 46 percent. It will be made effective from July 1, 2023. This announcement has been made by the Railway Board after the Union Cabinet approved the bonus of Rs 15,000 crore. This also includes a 4 percent increase in DA for government employees. Employees will also get increased DA in the next month’s salary along with the outstanding amount from July.
This announcement was welcomed before Diwali
This announcement before Diwali was welcomed by the railway employees unions. Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of All India Railwaymen’s Federation, said, ‘The employees were to get DA from July, so it was the right of the employees to get it. I welcome the decision to announce its payment before Diwali. M Raghavaiah, general secretary of the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen, said that DA is paid on the basis of consumer price index. Its purpose is to ensure that inflation does not affect (employees).
Earlier, the Central Cabinet had recently announced 78 days bonus for railway employees. This bonus money will be paid to the railway employees before Diwali. Apart from this, in the cabinet meeting, it was also announced to increase DA of central employees from 42 percent to 46 percent.
