Now the Railways has issued new guidelines. Which if any passenger does not follow, then he will have to pay the fine. Along with this, passengers may also have to go to jail. There have been many such reports that passengers steal pillows, bed sheets and towels from there after traveling in AC coaches. Due to which the railways suffered a lot. Many times the passengers were also warned by the Railways. But many passengers are still stealing the items given by the railways. But now passengers will not be able to steal railway goods. Because now if a passenger steals during the journey, then he will be punished according to the new guidelines of the Railways.
Heavy loss to railways, now punishment will be given
Due to the theft of things like bed sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, spoons, toilet bowls, taps, kettles in trains, the railways are losing lakhs of rupees every year. It has been issued a statement on behalf of the Railways that it is legally wrong to steal such goods in the Railways. Now if someone is found doing this, according to the Railway Property Act 1966, the passenger will also be fined and can also be sentenced to imprisonment. In which a provision of maximum fine of 5 has been made.
Where do most thefts happen?
Railway says that most complaints of theft in trains come from trains running on the route of Bilaspur zone of Chhattisgarh. Goods worth about Rs 55 lakh have been stolen in the trains running in this zone only in the last four months. Within four months, 12886 face towels worth Rs 559381, 18208 bed sheets worth Rs 2816231, 19767 pillows worth Rs 1014837, 2796 blankets worth Rs 1171999 have been stolen.
