Ready in Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory
After this the question is whether Railways is planning to replace Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express with high-speed Vande Bharat Sleeper train. Vande Bharat Express is India’s first semi-high-speed train and has been manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. It is a unit of Indian Railways. This train is completely air conditioned and equipped with world class facilities. This train has become increasingly popular among the passengers. It is clear from this that this semi high speed train will play an important role in the future of Indian Railways.
Rajdhani is one of the best services of Railways.
According to the report published in Financial Express, railway officials say that in the coming time, Vande Bharat Express trains will gradually replace Shatabdi Express. It is also expected that after the launch of Sleeper Vande Bharat, it will become an alternative to the existing Rajdhani Express. Currently Rajdhani Express is considered one of the best services of Indian Railways. The capital connects New Delhi with different states of the country.
It will take time to prepare Vande Bharat train as per requirement.
BG Mallya, General Manager of Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory (ICF) had said in an interview that there are many places where Vande Bharat Express has been started, where its timing is very similar to Shatabdi Express. Pointing out the timing of both the trains, Mallya said that this is a clear indication that with the arrival of Vande Bharat, it can replace Shatabdi trains in the coming time. Mallya had also told that it will take time to build the number of Vande Bharat trains required. Meanwhile, Shatabdi trains will be run on other routes so that no resources are wasted.
First short distance Vande Bharat trains with chair cars are being operated. Apart from this, Railways is also considering starting ‘Vande Bharat Metro’ service. It is expected that soon the model of these trains with metro like coaches will be shown. This will help in estimating how possible it is to run high-speed trains like Vande Bharat even in the urban transportation system.
