What is Third AC Economy (3E)
Indian Railways has given the option of 3E coach to the passengers to travel in AC bogie at affordable fare. The special thing is that these coaches are like third AC and all the facilities are provided in them which the passengers get in third AC. But, still the fare of 3E coach is less.
How different is 3E coach from AC 3?
It is not that the facilities available in AC economy coach are less than AC coach. In the economy coach, separate AC duct has been installed for each passenger seat. Along with this, arrangements for bottle stand, reading light and charging have been made for every seat. Apart from this, bedsheets and blankets are available in 3E coach like third AC. Despite the low fares, all these facilities are available in these coaches, the only difference is that there are 72 seats in Third AC, but there are 83 seats in AC-3 Economy, 11 more seats than this.
Indian Railways started operating AC-3 economy coaches in the year 2021 and modern facilities have been included in it. At present the facility of AC Economy Coach (3E) is available in select trains. Tickets can be booked in 3E coach on the IRCTC website. During booking, after sleeper coach, there is option to book in 3E coach.
