Platform tickets will not be available

This decision has been taken in view of security. During Diwali, Govardhan, Bhaiyadooj and Chhath Puja, the crowd of passengers and those who come to drop them off increases on the platform. To avoid any untoward incident, the sale of platform tickets will be stopped from October 26 to November 6.

How much will be the fine if caught?

According to railway officials, if caught without a platform ticket, a fine of Rs 250 and a platform ticket fee of Rs 10 will be charged, totaling Rs 260. TT will do checking on all platforms of the railway station. RPF claims that the crowd in the railway station will start increasing from October 28. There are also preparations to run special trains for Diwali.

Mobile thief caught

GRP has caught a mobile thief during checking on Wednesday. Inspector in-charge Anuj Malik said that the accused Sunny Sonkar was stealing mobiles and belongings of passengers in trains for the last several months. A mobile phone has been recovered from his possession. He has been caught and sent to jail.

Real time monitoring of stations will be done for crowd management

General Manager of Northern Railway Ashok Kumar Verma reviewed the work-progress with department heads and divisional railway managers at Baroda House. He said that in view of the festive season, Northern Railway is fully prepared to provide a convenient travel experience to its passengers.

Additional coaches added to trains

This year about 3050 trips of special trains will be operated, which is 181 percent more than last year. Additional coaches are also being added to regular trains. He emphasized on crowd control measures at major stations, increased deployment of staff, real time monitoring and emergency response system.

He asked to intensify the cleanliness and sanitation campaign. Under this, continuous spraying of disinfectant, cleaning of toilets and waiting areas and proper waste management will be done in the station premises.

He reviewed the work being done to remove bottlenecks, eliminate level crossings, doubling, electrification, construction of ROB and RUB to increase the speed of trains. He also advised timely disposal of scrap as well as maintaining adequate stock of materials required for repair and maintenance of assets.
