You can book a maximum of 12 tickets every month

IRCTC has said many times regarding e-ticket booking that under the railway rules, an IRCTC user can book a maximum of 12 tickets every month from his personal ID (IRCTC ticket booking limit). For this, the user’s IRCTC ID must be linked to the Aadhaar card. Apart from this, if any of the people traveling apart from the user is an Aadhaar authenticated user, then you will be able to book a maximum of 24 tickets every month from your personal ID.

Will you be jailed if you sell the ticket after booking it?

Under Section 143 of the Railway Act 1989, if you are found selling the ticket after booking it online on IRCTC’s app or website with your personal IRCTC ID, then you may have to go to jail. That is, you cannot do business by booking tickets through personal ID. Otherwise strict action can be taken against you. However, there is no restriction on booking tickets for your relatives and friends.
