IRCTC is soon going to give good news to railway passengers.

Now you will get your ticket refund money back in just 1 hour. Actually, IRCTC is working together with Central for Railway Information System to make the refund service fast. It is believed that this service will be launched soon.

The process is slow right now

If you have got your ticket canceled through this service, your money has been deducted even without you booking the ticket. In both the cases, you will get your refund within about 1 hour. At present the refund process is slow. Due to which it takes 2-3 days for your refund money to come from IRCTC. According to Mint report, the Service Railway Authority is working on changing this system. The team of IACTC and Central for Railway Information System is improving this service.

What are the refund rules?

According to the current rules of Railways, if your ticket is in waiting and it is not confirmed then the refund money will come to you automatically. At the same time, Railways charges cancellation charge on cancellation of confirmed ticket. It depends on the class of your ticket. Whereas if your train has left and you have not travelled. In such a situation, you will have to file TDR for refund. Once the TDR is filed, the Railway Department issues the refund after verifying it. If you do not cancel the ticket nor file TDR four hours before the departure of the train, you will not get a refund.

30 minute rule

If you want a refund from IRCTC, you will have to cancel the ticket and file TDR 30 minutes before the train departure. If you do not do this you will not be entitled to a refund. Now if this new service comes into effect then lakhs of people will be able to get their money in their accounts as soon as possible.
