Railway Latest News- Ticket booking counters of Delhi Railway Station will be closed for 4.5 hours from 11:45 pm today i.e. on 7th October. During this period, neither tickets will be booked nor passengers will be able to cancel tickets at the counter. Railway inquiry service (139) will also remain closed for four and a half hours. Therefore, if you intend to go to Delhi Railway Station and book or cancel your ticket from the ticket booking counter, then check whether you are also planning to go to the station at a time when the ticket counters will be closed.
According to the report of ABP Live, in a press release, Northern Railway said that it has informed that the service of ticket counter or passenger reservation systems will be closed for a few hours. All services of Delhi Passenger Reservation System will not be available from 11.45 pm on 7 October 2023 to 4.15 am on 8 October 2023. That means all services at Delhi Railway Station will remain halted for 4.30 hours.
Which services will remain closed?
Apart from reservation of railway tickets, ticket cancellation, charting or chart preparation, inquiry service (139 and counter service) and internet booking and EDR services will remain closed. It is a matter of relief that services like online ticket booking, cancellation, inquiry will continue to work on the IRCTC portal as before. Ticket booking on IRCTC portal remains suspended for 45 minutes from 11.45 pm to 12.30 am.
Why will the passenger reservation system remain closed?
Due to the activity of compression of static and dynamic database of Northern Railway, it has been decided to suspend these reservation counter services. According to the press release of Northern Railway, “”All concerned are informed that Delhi PRS for static and dynamic database compression work. All the services of ICICI Bank, viz., Reservation, Cancellation, Charting, Inquiry Service (139 and Counter Service), Internet Booking and EDR. “Services will not be available from 11.45 pm on 07.10.2023 till 04.15 am on 08.10.2023 for approximately 04.30 hours.”
