Sometimes this has to be done out of compulsion when they do not get a ticket or sometimes they miss the train. Indian Railways is the means of travel for crores of people every day. Among these, there are thousands of people who have reservation or ticket, but due to some reason or the other, they miss their train. In such a situation, passengers assume that the ticket is wasted. However, the truth is different from this.

Missing the train… the biggest problem for passengers

Indian Railways, the lifeline of the country, makes and implements rules after carefully thinking about the problems faced by common passengers before the journey, during the journey and after the completion of the journey. Missing the train is one of the biggest problems for passengers. In such a difficult time, the first thought that comes to the mind of the passengers is ticket refund. After this, he thinks whether he can travel in another train on the same ticket or not? Come, let us know what is the rule of the Railways in this regard?

If you miss a train, then on which ticket can you travel in another train?

According to the rules of Indian Railways, if a passenger has a general coach ticket, then he can travel in another train of the same category without any problem. If a passenger travels in a train of another category, he may have to pay a fine. Because, the category and ticket price of premium trains like Passenger, Mail-Express, Superfast, Rajdhani Express and Vande Bharat are different. In many such trains, general tickets are not allowed at all.

If you have a confirmed ticket with reservation, what to do if you miss the train?

On the other hand, if a passenger has a reservation ticket, then if he misses the train, he cannot travel in another train with that ticket. If caught while traveling in another train, the TTE considers the passenger as ticketless. Also, according to the rules, he can be fined. If the fine is not paid, further legal action and jail can also be taken. Therefore, in case of having a reservation ticket, one should apply for a refund if the train is missed and a proper ticket must be taken for traveling in another train.

How to file TDR offline and online? What is the method?

On missing the train, the reservation ticket made from the counter has to be submitted by going to the counter itself and filling the correct reason in the TDR (TDR Filing Rules) form. At the same time, for e-ticket, one has to log in to the IRCTC site or app and file TDR. For this, after logging in, one has to click on the train option. After that, you have to click on the File TDR option and then click on the File TDR option. Then after seeing the ticket, you have to tick it and click on File TDR. After this, the TDR gets filed (TDR Filing Online) as soon as you select the reason. After this, the refund amount comes to the account or wallet of the person making the payment within a maximum of 60 days.

What are the rules regarding reservation ticket cancellation and refund?

According to the rules of Indian Railways, no refund is given on cancelling the ticket booked under Tatkal facility. At the same time, if you cancel a confirmed ticket within 48 hours and up to 12 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train, then up to 25 percent of the total amount can be deducted. If you cancel the ticket between 12 to 4 hours before the scheduled departure time, then 50 percent of the amount will be deducted.

Waiting list and RAC tickets are refunded only if they are cancelled 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train. However, all these facilities are available before the train leaves; after the train leaves, TDR is the only solution.
