Indian Railways Rules: According to the rules of Indian Railways, if you book tickets online, you must carry original ID proof during the journey. Without ID, the TTE can consider you a ticketless traveller, impose a fine and deboard you from the train, and the seat can also be cancelled
Indian Railways Rules: Millions of people travel by train every day in India, and the Indian Railways operates thousands of trains every day. When people want to travel long distances, the train is a convenient option as it offers many facilities and the ticket is also cheaper than flights. Most people travel by making reservations in the train and book tickets online through e-tickets, with a printout of which they travel. However, many times people forget to carry e-tickets and ID cards. In such a situation, the question arises whether the TTE can deboard the passenger in the absence of ticket and ID?
According to the rules of the Railways, if a passenger does not have an e-ticket and a valid identity card, he may not be allowed to travel, and the TTE can deboard him from the train.
ID is also required along with e-ticket
Nowadays most people book tickets online. It is mandatory to carry your ID proof along with the e-ticket. If you do not have the original ID, the TTE can fine you and even deboard you from the train. Therefore, it is important to know that e-tickets without ID proof are not recognized.
Without ID, you will be considered as a ticketless passenger
According to the rules of Indian Railways, if you have booked a ticket online and you have not taken your original ID proof with you, then you will be considered as a ticketless passenger. In this situation, the railways can not only impose a fine, but also have the right to deboard you from the train. Even if you have a confirmed ticket, that ticket will be of no use without ID proof.
How much fine will be imposed?
If you do not have ID proof, the TT will consider you as a ticketless passenger and charge a fine. This fine will be based on your class of travel. First of all, the TT will charge the price of your ticket, which will be according to the route of your ticket. Apart from this, if you are travelling in AC bogie then you will have to pay a fine of Rs 440, and if you are travelling in sleeper class then the fine will be Rs 220.
You will not get a seat even after paying the fine
If you think that you will travel comfortably after paying the fine, then it is wrong. When the TT cancels your e-ticket, your seat is also cancelled. Now, even if you pay the fine and ticket money again, you will not get your seat again. If the TT does not agree with you, you can also be deboarded from the train.
Rules for senior citizens too
It is also important for senior citizens to keep an ID proof proving their age. If they do not have the original ID, their e-ticket will also be considered invalid. Therefore, keep your ID proof along with the e-ticket during the train journey, so that you do not have to face any problem during the journey.
