Railways Increases ex gratia: Now Railways will give 10 times more compensation to the victims of train accidents; Now you will get so many lakhs of rupees

Railways increases ex gratia: Giving a big relief to the victims of train accidents, the Railway Board has increased the amount of compensation (ex gratia) given to the injured and the families of the deceased by 10 times. This compensation to the victims was last revised in 2012 and 2013. According to a circular issued by the Railway Board on September 18, it has now been decided to revise the ex-gratia amount given to the dependents of those killed and injured in train accidents.

It has been said in this circular of Railways that it will come into effect from September 18. According to the circular, the ex-gratia amount has also been increased for the common man walking on the road who is a victim of a train accident. In this, the people who were victims of accidents prima facie caused by railway error at manned level crossing have also been included.

Now you will get this much compensation

According to this circular of the Railway Board, the relatives of passengers killed in train and railway accidents at crossing gates will now get Rs 5 lakh, while those seriously injured will get Rs 2.5 lakh. Victims who have suffered minor injuries will get Rs 50,000. Earlier these people used to get Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

Compensation for unpleasant incidents also increased

The circular further said that the dependents of passengers killed, seriously injured and moderately injured in any untoward incident will get Rs 1.5 lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Earlier there was a rule to give Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 5,000 to these people respectively. These untoward incidents usually include crimes like terrorist attack, violent assault and train robbery.

This much compensation will be given on hospitalization

Railway Board informed that in case of train accident, if seriously injured passengers are hospitalized for more than 30 days, a compensation amount of Rs 300 thousand will be paid every day after the period of 10 days or till the date of discharge. .

In case of serious injury in any untoward incident, Rs 1,500 per day will be paid for hospitalization for a period of 10 days or six months from the date of discharge, whichever is earlier. After this, Rs 750 per day will be released for the next five months till the date of discharge.

They will not get compensation

The Board has clarified that no ex-gratia relief will be admissible to road users in case of accidents at unmanned crossings, trespassers, persons electrocuted by OHE (Over Head Equipment). The Railways Act 1989 prescribes compensation liability for death or injury to passengers in train accidents and untoward incidents.
