Often people carry many bags and a lot of luggage while travelling. But, do you know that there are rules regarding luggage in Railways also.

Just as you cannot carry more than a limited weight of luggage while traveling in an aeroplane, similarly there is a rule for carrying luggage in a train too.

Let us tell you that you can travel in the train with only 40 kg to 70 kg luggage.

Indian Railways has prescribed the weight of luggage as per the coach. The baggage allowance is 40KG for sleep coach, 50KG for AC two tier and 70KG for AC first class.

If you are caught traveling with luggage weighing more than this, the Railways may charge higher fees. You may have to pay Rs 654 as fine.

If you travel only up to 500KM with more than 40KG weight, you may have to pay Rs 109 as fine.
