PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra: Indian Railways has decided to open Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra at 61 stations to provide cheap medicines to passengers during their journey. Its purpose is to ‘enable crores of passengers to get medicines at affordable prices at railway stations during emergency’.
In the last few months, Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras have started functioning successfully at 50 places. Among these 50 centers, Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras are functioning at Patna Junction, Darbhanga and Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Junction in East Central Railway.

Now seeing the success of this initiative and the enthusiasm of the people, Indian Railways has decided to open stalls of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra at 61 other places. People will get cheap medicines
Tenders have been invited from people willing to open stalls of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra at these stations. The selected tenderer will be handed over the outlet by the first week of August after completing its construction. This important decision will not only create employment opportunities, but people will also get medicines at affordable prices.
It is worth noting that the objective of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras is to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to all people, especially the poor and the deprived. So that out-of-pocket expenses in health care can be reduced.

Various products under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra include 1963 medicines and 293 surgical equipment, covering all major therapeutic groups such as cardiovascular, anti-cancer, anti-diabetics, anti-infectives, anti-allergic, gastro-intestinal medicines, nutraceuticals etc.
Many Ayurvedic products have also been included in the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra to increase immunity and are easily available to the people at affordable prices.
What is PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra
Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) is a campaign launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals to provide quality medicines to the public at affordable prices. Jan Aushadhi Abhiyan was started in the year 2008. In September 2015, ‘Jan Aushadhi Yojana’ was redesigned as ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana’ (PMJAY). In November, 2016, to give more momentum to the scheme, it was again renamed as “Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana” (PMBJP).
