Tamil Nadu Heavy Rain: Rain has left many states of the country. Meanwhile, heavy rains are falling in Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in many areas of the state. Many trains have been cancelled due to waterlogging on railway tracks. Schools and colleges in many districts have been closed.

There is chaos in Tamil Nadu due to the havoc of rain. The people of the state are forced to bear the brunt of nature. On Tuesday, Chennai and surrounding areas received torrential rains. Due to which the residential areas and roads were flooded up to the knees. Long queues of vehicles were formed on the roads. Public transport services collapsed. Due to which people had to face difficulties in movement. Here, in view of the heavy rains, the Meteorological Department (India Meteorological Department -IMD) has issued a red alert in many areas. Extremely heavy rains are expected in different areas of the state in the next 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains on 17 and 18 October. Chennai has been receiving torrential rains since last night. Due to which bus services have been affected in many areas. Here, the state’s State Relief Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni said that some parts of Chennai have received up to 16 cm of rain. He said that we are fully prepared for any situation.

Many trains and flights cancelled due to heavy rains

Due to heavy rains in the state, the railway track was flooded. Southern Railway said that due to heavy rains, water has filled between Basin Bridge and Vyasarpadi railway stations. In such a situation, four trains have been canceled. At least eight domestic flights were canceled due to insufficient number of passengers to avail the service. At the same time, passengers could not reach the airport due to heavy rains. Therefore, 8 domestic flights have been canceled due to lack of sufficient passengers.

Schools and colleges of these districts closed

At the same time, the state government was already alerted after seeing the heavy rains. Holiday has been declared in schools and colleges of coastal areas today (October 16) except for essential services. This includes Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpet.

Work from home advised till October 18

The government has advised private companies to get work from home from employees till October 18, 2024. For weather related information, Chennai Corporation has issued a helpline number 1913.

NDRF teams deployed in coastal districts

26 teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in 5 coastal districts of the state. Boats are also ready for the movement of people. Medical camps and relief centers are being built. Facility of delivering ration at home is being provided to all the people. In this, special care has been taken of the elderly.
