Rainfall Alert: Government declared holiday in these states due to heavy rains, IMD issued warning

Weather Update Today: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Tuesday (September 3), following which the Andhra Pradesh government has declared a holiday.

Andhra Pradesh-Telangana Rainfall: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are receiving continuous heavy rains, due to which 35 people have died in both the states. In many areas, roads and rail tracks have been damaged, causing connectivity and thousands of acres of agricultural crops have been submerged. Due to heavy rains in Vijayawada, there are flood conditions and life has been completely disrupted. In view of the situation, the NDRF is carrying out relief and rescue operations and food and medical supplies are being delivered through drones.

Andhra Pradesh government announces holiday

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a holiday on September 3 due to continuous rains (Andhra Pradesh Rain). In the last three days, 35 people have died due to unexpected rains and floods in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Agencies engaged in relief and rescue work and the Chief Ministers of both the states have intensified efforts to deal with the situation. 16 people have died in rain-related incidents in Telangana, while 19 people died in neighboring Andhra Pradesh.

Rain warning in these states too

Apart from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a heavy rain warning in many other states. The Himachal Pradesh State Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for September 3 and at least nine districts are likely to receive heavy rains. The India Meteorological Department (Mausam Vibhag) has predicted very heavy rains in many areas including Saurashtra, Kutch, Odisha, Telangana, East Rajasthan, Mahe and Gujarat in the next few days.

Rain in many areas of Delhi, temperature drops

The weather in the national capital Delhi was pleasant on Monday morning, while it rained in many areas of the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 33.6 degrees Celsius, slightly below the normal temperature for this season. According to the IMD, marginal rainfall between 0.01 to 0.04 mm was recorded during the day. The city has recorded 837.4 mm of rainfall so far this year, which is 56 percent more than normal. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for the next two days, predicting generally cloudy sky and light to moderate rain and thundershowers in the city. The department said that on Tuesday the maximum temperature is likely to be around 34 degrees and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 26 degrees Celsius.

Heavy rain in Gujarat

Many parts of Gujarat received heavy rains on Monday and Bharuch city recorded 120 mm rainfall between 4 pm and 6 pm. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in the state this week. Monday’s rain came after a 2-day respite. Last week, the state received very heavy rains, leading to widespread flooding. According to data from the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), heavy rains lashed Bharuch, Tapi, Dang and Navsari districts of south Gujarat during the day and Songadh and Vyara talukas of Tapi district and Waghai of Dang received more than 200 mm of rain in a span of 12 hours till 6 pm.
