Rainfall Alert: Heavy rains in these states from today; Will get relief from scorching heat

Monsoon Latest Updates: For the last few days, the land from Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir to Jharkhand is scorching in the scorching heat. The situation has become such that the sun is spewing fire not only in the plains but also in the mountains. It has become difficult to go out during the day. The Meteorological Department has informed in its latest bulletin that the heat wave will continue in the North Indian parts for the next two days, however, the weather is going to change from today i.e. 19 June. Light rain may occur in some northwestern parts including Uttarakhand and some drop in temperature can be seen. There may be light drizzle in Delhi-NCR on 20 June. Heavy rain has also been predicted in many states from today. The Meteorological Department has issued a landslide warning in Arunachal Pradesh.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted very heavy rains over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam-Meghalaya during the next three days. Apart from this, heat wave is also likely in many parts of North India during the next two days. The Meteorological Department said in its new bulletin, “Strong southwesterly winds are blowing from the Bay of Bengal to the northeastern states at lower tropospheric levels. A cyclonic circulation is located over northeast Assam and a north-south trough is moving from North Bihar to southern parts of Gangetic West Bengal in the lower troposphere level.”

When will we get relief from the scorching heat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that severe heat conditions persist over Uttar Pradesh, plains of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab and parts of northern Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and Jammu division. The maximum temperature in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and parts of northern Madhya Pradesh, South Bihar and northern Rajasthan remained between 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. Heat wave conditions may persist in many parts of UP even today. The Meteorological Department says that a new western disturbance is moving towards North India. Therefore, these states may get relief soon.

Heavy rain predicted in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. During this time the speed of the winds can be 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh till June 21. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will receive extremely heavy rainfall till June 19. Heavy rain and landslide warning has been issued in Arunachal Pradesh on June 19.

Scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds (30-40 kmph) is likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha during the next two days and it is likely to increase thereafter. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Odisha on June 20 and June 21.
